BTEC National Diploma Creative Digital Media Production

You will complete 10 units of which 4 are mandatory and 2 are external. Below are examples of the kind of units you might study while on the course:
Year 1 - Extended Certificate Digital Film and Video Production:
Unit 3: Digital Media – mandatory / externally assessed
Unit 10: Film Production – mandatory
Unit 21: Film Editing
Unit 24: Sound Editing
Unit 25: Sound Recording

Year 2 - National Diploma in Film and Television Production:
Unit 7: Media Enterprise – mandatory
Unit 8: Responding to a Brief – mandatory / externally assessed
Unit 18: Storyboarding for Digital Media
Unit 19: Scriptwriting
Unit 20: Single Camera Techniques

There are four mandatory units, two externally assessed and two internally assessed. Learners must complete and achieve at Near Pass grade or above in all mandatory external units and achieve a Pass or above in all mandatory internal units. The externally-set and assessed units are completed in supervised conditions.
Examining Board – Pearson

Students must have achieved at least two GCSEs at grade 6 or Merits on equivalent courses, as well as a further three GCSEs at grade 4 or passes on equivalent courses. This must include at least a grade 4 in both GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics. It is not necessary to have taken Media Studies at GCSE in order to take this course.

A Level Media Studies.

This course is equivalent to 2 A levels. On completion of this qualification plus another A Level, you could progress to university to take either a Media Studies degree or a degree in a particular area such as Film Production, Screenwriting or Sound Production.

On this course you will be encouraged to undertake a work experience placement in both the first and the second year and submit your work for competitions, the purpose of which is to gather information and insights about the workplace, which can help develop your employability skills.
