Musicians Inspired by Conservatoire Concert
Music students at Solihull Sixth Form College visited the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire this week to get a taste of African and Classical music.
Year 13 learners on the A level Music course attended a performance of the Manchester Collective to experience their fusion of African and Classical art forms. The concert, entitled "Sirocco" featured a new exciting arrangement, including performances from Abel Selaocoe on the cello.
Manchester Collective are known for their experimental programming and daring collaborations, combining both contemporary music and classical masterpieces. Their unique style of performance was a great experience for our learners and will support their A level Music studies, which includes performing and composing elements.
Music teacher Catherine Douglas commented:
"This concert was an amazing experience for our young people. It is important they get the opportunity to encounter many different genres of music to inform their studies and influence their own compositions.”
